An app that handles magnetic declination (true vs magnetic north) correctly, and clearly labels which one it shows, beats most of the field. CoreMotion heading on iOS needs the figure-8 gesture and many apps just fail silently. Build a proper calibration flow: detect low heading accuracy, show a clear animated prompt, confirm when accuracy is good. This alone converts the biggest 1-star bucket.
